Think you can’t get solar if you lease your building? Think again.

This 150kWp system was a tailor made for Westcare Medical Facility in Melton. The system was installed with the cooperation of both landlord and onsite tenants.

One main challenge was divvying up the power between tenants. The site houses twelve tenants all of whom are on separate electricity meters. But only two tenants were being connected to solar. We had to analyse and devise a method to deliver the power to only two meters out of a dozen onsite, without causing any major disruptions.

We worked closely with the landlord and tenants and used our experience in commercial solar to devise a solution that

  • accurately supplied power through the two meters
  • integrated the system with a pre-existing on site diesel generator
  • minimised shading and maximised energy production
  • would be installed within the required time frame

The system was installed and completed in August 2015 – ahead of schedule – and provides a significant portion of the power demands of the site.

The system comprises of

  • 150kW Roof Mounted Solar System
  • 600 Yingli 250Wp panels
  • 3 x SMA Tripower inverters
  • Estimated electricity generated: 20 MWh per year
  • Estimated CO2 reduction: 234.5 Tonnes per year
