A uniform tariff of 11.8% will be charged on all Chinese solar panels, effective immediately. For some 130 other Chinese companies that have cooperated in the EU investigation a preliminary duty will apply of 47.6%. Companies that did not cooperate in the EU inquiry will face import duties of 67.9%.
Europe is a key market for many Chinese Companies and this news is definitely not good for survival of many and may well jeopardise up to 25,000 jobs. In response China has commenced anti-dumping and countervailing investigations into European wine.
