EnviroGroup recently installed a 50kW solar system on the roof of the historic Hero Apartments on Russell Street. The largest system ever retrofitted to an apartment block in Melbourne, the installation now allows the building to tap into the natural powers of the sun.
Using 200 x 250W Yingli Solar Panels and Fronius inverters, the 50kW solar array will save the apartment block owners $10,000 per annum on energy bills and reduce carbon emissions by 70 tonnes p.a.
The building owners were recipients of the Sustainable Melbourne Fund as well as additional funding from government and council schemes and received more than $67,000 in rebates for the installation of their system.
