Envirogroup - The Solar and Sustainability Experts

Burwood Deakin University Commercial Solar Installation

EnviroGroup was selected by Deakin University, through a competitive tender process, to install solar electricity, solar hot water and solar heating units at their Warrnambool, Waurn Ponds and Burwood campuses.

The Deakin University solar installations project was developed to cut energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from 5 university residential buildings. Each of these buildings housed up to 12 students. The solar PV systems were installed with Allsolus energy monitoring systems were installed in each property, which allows instantaneous energy consumption monitoring and solar PV generated data.

Solar hot water systems were installed at 4 properties, to supply hot water to the buildings bathrooms. Evacuated tube solar water heaters were installed, which are very efficient and are far cheaper to run than other forms of water heating.
The solar heating units were installed to reduce student reliance upon heating and air conditioning units. These units are beneficial for reducing heating costs in winter and cooling costs in summer.

The solar electricity systems installed for this project will prevent 45.4 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions from being released into the environment each year, which is the equivalent of planting 227 trees each year.

These systems included

  • 5 x 5 kW solar PV systems
  • Panels: 130 Solar PV panels
  • Solar Hot water systems: 4 x evacuated tube solar hot water systems
  • Solar Heating units: 5 x SolaMate solar heating units
