The decision to solar power the Grantham Street General Practice was based on practicality and environmental values. Dr Stanton wanted to offset as much of the Medical Centre’s electricity costs as possible while making a positive contribution to the environment by generating clean electricity.

With the system running well, Dr Stanton is now considering options for onsite electricity storage that can be used in times of blackouts or unreliable electricity supply as it is important to keep essential equipment running all the time (eg. vaccine refrigerators).

This solar power system prevents 8.8 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions from being released into the environment each year, which is the equivalent of planting 44 trees each year.

The system comprises

  • Size: 4.9 kW system
  • Panels: 27 Solar PV Panels
